Note: The tragic incident related here took place in Newton County on January 2, 1953. The Boone County jail in Harrison housed the suspect for a short time, and much of the investigation was also done in Harrison, led by Deputy Prosecutor Joe Villines. Information for this story was obtained from The Harrison Daily Times, The Arkansas Gazette, and the Springfield News Leader dated January 3-7 of 1953.
