DALLAS — The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) recognized two member financial institutions for their commitment to community investment by naming them 2024 Community Area Revitalization Efforts (CARE) Award recipients. Bank of Anguilla in Anguilla, Mississippi, and Arvest Bank, headquartered in Bentonville were honored during FHLB Dallas’ annual member conference. more

Landon Curtis grew up in this area, graduating from Valley Springs High School before finishing his education at Missouri State University. His wife, Allie, is also a Harrison native, and Curtis says they’re thankful to be raising their two boys in this community. LITTLE ROCK — A non-partisan audit of the details surrounding the purchase of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s custom lectern has claimed to find at least seven potential violations of state law. The audit, released to the public on Monday by Arkansas Legislative Audit (ALA), explores how taxpayer money was used for the purchase, how Freedom of Information Act requests were ignored, and how Sanders’s office changed their answers and shredded documents related to the purchase. ALA said in the report that they were unable to determine whether the lectern's cost was reasonable. more

LITTLE ROCK — The US Department of Transportation’s National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is teaming up with Arkansas law enforcement to urge drivers to stay sober behind the wheel. This upcoming Saturday, April 20, marks the unofficial marijuana “holiday,” and there will likely be an increase in marijuana use. Marijuana laws are changing constantly across the country, but one thing remains: Impaired driving is illegal and deadly. NHTSA is reminding all drivers: If You Feel Different, You Drive Different. The Boone County Cattlemen’s Association held its March meeting on the 14th at the John Paul Hammerschmidt Center of North Arkansas College. The meeting was called to order by President John Muncy, who then led the Pledge of Allegiance. Dale Crunkelton led the prayer. There were 45 members and guests in attendance. They enjoyed a meal of brisket, cole slaw, ranch beans, potato salad, bread, assorted cookies, soft drinks, and water. The meeting was sponsored by WT Equipment in Berryville. more
